What Is Included in Each of the 40 Challenges?

➡️ Google & PowerPoint Presentation Slides: Each reading concept comes with a comprehensive presentation that breaks the concept down with detailed examples and guides you through each element of the lesson and activity. The slides help you:

  • Teach the reading concept with clear, concise explanations.
  • Introduce the story and the challenge.
  • Review answers and provide feedback.

➡️ 40 Narrative Stories: Engage your students with original narrative stories that put them in the middle of an exciting scenario related to the reading concept. Reading the story as a class hooks students and sets up the accompanying challenge.

➡️ 40 Escape Room Digital and Print Reading Game Challenges: After teaching the reading concepts, students are ready to tackle the interactive escape-room style challenges (in digital or print format). They must use their newly acquired analysis or reading skills to solve puzzles and progress through the challenge.

How Each Reading Challenge Works:

  1. Set the Stage: Use the PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation to introduce the reading concept. These slides offer a structured approach to learning the weekly topic, with examples and context that prepare students for the challenge.
  2. Engage with the Story: Read the narrative story as a class. Each story puts students in the middle of an exciting scenario related to the reading concept, helping them engage with the material in a meaningful way.
  3. Apply Reading Skills: Once the concept has been introduced and the story is read, students are ready to dive into the reading challenge! These digital or print escape-room-style activities are designed to reinforce comprehension and analysis as students work together to solve puzzles. They’ll apply their knowledge of the week’s reading concept, using critical thinking to progress through the challenge.
  4. Reveal the Conclusion: After students solve the final puzzle, they enter the password or passcode to unlock the story’s conclusion slides. These slides bring the narrative to a satisfying close while reviewing key insights from the challenge. Wrap up by discussing the answers with the class, reinforcing the skills they applied.

What Teachers Are Saying About These Reading Challenges:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This bundle is nothing short of a lifesaver. I have the students work in small groups to complete these activities and they treat each reading challenge like a competition. I'm eager to use more of these activities in my lessons. The instructional guide with each activity is also so helpful to have on hand to quickly reference answers, especially when I'm assisting struggling students. Thank you for all of the time and work you have put into this resource!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This resource is RIDICULOUSLY HUGE. I have taught for 16 years and this has helped me fill in some holes where previous lessons were lacking that creative spunk. I have loved purchasing resources from Presto Plans for years. They are ALWAYS reliable and always high quality. Each one of these escape rooms are creative and unique. My kids have enjoyed what we've done so far. Thank you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a 6 star resource! So well planned, creative, engaging, graphically beautiful and absolutely ready to use. It provides awesome teaching materials, as well as reinforcing activities for the students. One of the very best, if not the best resource that I have ever purchased on TPT. I also really appreciate the additional pdf that provides suggested teaching order. The planning is virtually complete for the teacher!
