New Year's Writing Activity - Fireworks Collaborative Narrative Writing Activity: This fun collaborative New Year's writing activity is sure to get even your most reluctant writers putting pencil to paper. The fireworks writing method is a fun and interactive way to teach your students how to write collaboratively, and the New Year's theme makes it the perfect lesson for the week after the holidays. I can guarantee this will be a lesson your students will not forget!

How This Fireworks New Year's Writing Activity Works:
  1. Each student gets one of the 30 pre-made worksheets with a different New Year's visual story starter. They begin writing the story as Writer #1.
  2. After an allotted amount of time, Writer #1 crumples their story up into a "firework," and after a countdown from 10, students throw them into the air (like fireworks).
  3. Everyone goes to grab another "firework," smooths out the paper, and they continue to story!
This process is repeated one more time, then it is returned to the original writer for editing, revision, and final copy! Students always have so much fun doing this, and they usually can't believe you are letting them crumple up their stories.
