Holes Activity Palindrome Assignment is a fun and creative way to bring elements of Holes by Lois Sachar into the classroom. The main character of the novel has a very unique name, Stanley Yelnats, which is a palindrome! A palindrome is a word that is read the same way forward as it is backward. This assignment will allow students to understand the meaning of palindromes and guess words that are palindromes based on clues provided. For example, students might receive the clue, "You might see a checkered flag wave when this vehicle crosses the finish line." The answer? RACECAR!

Included in the Holes Activity Palindrome Assignment Resource:

What Teachers Are Saying About the Holes Activity Palindrome Assignment Resource:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My students loved this resource about palindromes and helped them to write their own. They illustrated their palindromes and it was an overall successful learning experience. They loved how it related to the book, Holes, that we are reading.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a great supplement to my Grade 5 study of the novel Holes. It was a fun way to introduce what a 'palindrome' is, and after completing it my students regularly pointed out other palindromes they noticed during the year - which showed that the learning 'stuck'!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Used it for early finishers, then students asked if they could work together to solve them. Great classroom-building experience.
