How The Halloween Writing Prompts Story Starters Activity Works:

A student chooses one card from each of the three containers (or plastic baggies) labeled Character Traits, Setting and Conflict. As an example, they may choose "dangerous" from the character traits, "cemetery" for the setting, and "person vs person" for conflict. After they choose their cards, they are on their way to writing an interesting and unique Halloween narrative!

What Teachers Are Saying About This Halloween Writing Prompts Story Starters Activity:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I used this resource in my 6th grade ELA classes during the days around Halloween, which as teachers know can be CRAZY. My students LOVED this activity! I let them choose whether to write their story on their own or work with a partner, combining all the character/conflict/setting cards they picked or selecting the best of each pair for their story. We had just been studying character, conflict, and setting, so it was perfect timing all around.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My 9th grade co-teach ELA class had SO much fun with these activities. It was a great break from the "labor" of normal school work and they really enjoyed the opportunity to be creative.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wonderful resource! This was a great way to have my students engage in writing! It challenged them to think outside of the box!
