Conflict Assignment For Any Novel or Short Story - Story Elements Activity: Have students analyze conflict in any novel or short story with this creative assignment. Students will show an understanding of person vs. person or person vs. self conflict by envisioning a courtroom setting where opposing forces confront each other. The opposing forces go to court to discuss the conflict that develops, and whether exploring interpersonal tensions or internal struggles, students delve into the complexities of character motivations, emotions, and dilemmas. Students will write each person's unique perspective on the conflict (or with person vs. self, the two perspectives of one character.
