They will begin the challenge by reading a short backstory that sets up the escape room challenge. In a remote jungle in Southern Mexico, students flee from jaguars and stumble upon a gondola system over a ravine. To activate it, they need a six-digit PIN found in an old explorer's journal. With time running out, they must decode the journal to escape the pursuing jaguars.

➡️ Text Evidence Escape Room Style Challenge: In this interactive escape-room style text evidence challenge, students must read an original short story and read an original text and find text evidence to support six claims made to reveal the PIN to get access to the journal.

  • Start by using the presentation slides to guide you through each element of the lesson and activity. The slides will help you teach how to find text evidence, introduce the story and challenge, and review the answers.
  • Read the narrative story as a class to hook students and introduce the challenge.
