➡️ Repairing the Space Station Narrative Back Story: Next, students are ready to put what they have learned into action! They will begin the challenge by reading a short backstory that sets up the escape room challenge. You and your classmates find yourselves on the International Space Station, exhilarated by the realization of a lifelong dream. However, excitement turns to trepidation as alarms blare, signaling critical power failures. With limited oxygen and no access to crucial manuals or communication with Earth, you and your fellow students must work together to decipher literary riddles and reboot the system before it's too late.
➡️ Summarizing Escape Room Style Challenge: In this interactive escape-room style summarizing challenge, students must read an original short story and five astronaut logs. They will formulate a summary of each log by combining 5 of the summary cards using the someone, wanted, but, so, then strategy to reveal a hidden passphrase to fix the space station.

- Start by using the presentation slides to guide you through each element of the lesson and activity. The slides will help you teach summarizing, introduce the story and challenge, and review the answers.
- Read the narrative story as a class to hook students and introduce the challenge.
- Once you taught the summarizing skills and read the story, students are ready to try the escape-room style reading challenge!
