Chapters 4-6

The novel does not provide much detail about the celebrations, but the reader knows it is very important to the Rosens. Chapters 7-9

She learns an important lesson about bravery and also decides to withhold information from Ellen to protect her. Students will explore the theme of lying by answering questions about the text and playing a game of two truths and a lie.

Chapters 10-12

➡️ Number the Stars Character Analysis Diary Entry: The novel reveals a great deal about Annemarie, but some of the other characters' thoughts, feelings, and opinions are not examined in detail. Have students use this assignment to put either Peter, Henrik, Mrs. Rosen, or Ellen's thoughts and feelings into writing with a diary entry from the character's perspective.
