This homophones grammar digital escape room style challenge is a new and fun way to engage your students and improve their understanding of the difference between three commonly confused words: there, their and they're! The detailed Google Slides presentation introduces the difference between these commonly confused words with clear examples, ensuring student understanding from the start, and a pre or post-assessment Google Forms quiz allows you to assess student understanding effectively. The highlight of the resource is the engaging digital escape room-style challenge, where students read an original narrative back story where they must uncover the truth about their mysterious teacher, Mr. Cane. Then, they must collaborate in groups to crack a homophone-related digital challenge to unlock the teacher's mysterious safe by deciphering a page with clues.

Start by assigning the self-grading quiz to check your students’ understanding of their vs. there vs. they're rules before you begin the lesson.

Within the digital challenge, a link is included to a password-protected answer document where students can check their answer. If they are correct, the conclusion slides will appear to complete the story! These slides are also found in your presentation for you to read as a class when the challenge is over.
